I couldn't live without my sub. But the thing is that after having used it for so long, I realize how it can distract your ears when you're writing a track.tone-def wrote:how many people here have actually mixed with a sub? because a lot of the answers here are different to my personal experience. Subs are a useful mixing tool, there wouldn't be so many on the market if they made your music worse.
With that being said, I don't think they're necessary, but I definitely think anyone who is serious about making music should have one. Like I said before, you should only turn the sub up occasionally just to get a feel for the low end of your mix.
