I bought a magazine I don't normally buy ( Computer Music ) and have been trying out the various plugins on the disk. I really like this thing called Computer Music Dominator. Has anyone tried it? The GUI looks sh!t but there's some really nice sounds to be made from it, certain sounds have a kind of Junoesque feel about them. Definitely one of my favourite free synths now, just awesome for synthy keys and chords. I'm not sure if you can call it free as I had to buy the magazine though but it has a kind of chord memory function too, but you set the pitched yourself to make chords of up to 5 notes. Definitely worth a thorough try out. Dig deeper and you see a lot of potential.
I used to like synth 1 but have gone off it now as well as PolyIblit - both great freebies but I guess my tastes have changed. Any other decent things out there to try, I haven't really used much freeware for a while so I'm a bit behind with the times.
Favourite Freeware VSTi's
Re: Favourite Freeware VSTi's
Tyrell N6 by urs heckman is quite a beast. Been using it in all my tracks since it came out last year.
The TAL-Audio stuff is really great too imo.
Those are the only ones i really use as freebies. Still looking for a good saturation/coloration/warming osx plugin though.

Re: Favourite Freeware VSTi's
I shouldn't have put VSTi's as I was thinking about efx too. I probably try out a heap more efx than anything, sometimes finding one-trick ponies or whatever but then hang on to em if they do something cool. My old PC died and this is a new one, I can't remember anything now. Any decent mangling stuff out there? Granulizers or any esoteric things? I have the normal run of the mill things, reverbs/delays all that kind of stuff, just fancy trying a few 'off-beat' things out but don't know where to start.
That urs heckman thing is decent, been trying that out as well as some of the TB stuff..
I think there was a sticky for this but there's loads of dead links in that now, not sure how useful it is any more.

- Windows and OSX - I have the whole bundle. Mainly for the tuner, which is the best free one I have found.

- Windows and OSX - Sound mangling, I haven't used it since PC days but it can be pretty twisted.
