Re: Remixing

I think you can approach remixing in lots of different ways. I've released stuff for artists that had basically no similarity to the original, using only snippets or very obscure layers of the tune. I've also done edits where the differences are quite subtle - although maybe not so much on a good so...

Re: starting..

If you can make a few sounds and arrange them, that is probably enough for now. If you don't have any sound source or arrangement tool, maybe just tap your feet and clap your hands a bit. I'm not kidding.

You will create your own process.

Re: Tuning samples

I think it's possible to be a bit flexible with your tuning and important to do it by ear, but that sounds kinda like a vinyl purist sort of mentality now that I write it

Re: When mastering, where should i cut off in the low end?

it all depends on the track. i let someone (who posted on this forum a couple of years ago) master my tracks and he filtered the lowest note off my bassline! :x lots of dumb sound tech people high pass their systems around 40hz which is kinda painful, but with a good system their is really no need ...

Re: Legowelt's view on modular.

Nice uncle to visit hope he hasn't sold all that gear He literally gave away all of his analog stuff in the early 80s including an original moog modular  edit: he does still have racks and racks of high-end digital stuff integrated into a PC setup but it's basically set up to record pop tracks

Re: Legowelt's view on modular.

considering that a professional-grade bassoon runs about $35K it's not really an indulgence. I have an uncle who spent about $1million on recording gear when digital was first coming out in the 80s - all mostly obsolete now and now he uses a computer mainly but who is to say it's "indulgence&qu...
