Re: Sub bass under kick OR under bassline
Why doesn't your kick have energy below 80hz? You may have read somewhere about high-passing your kick - this is a terrible idea for house music. It's not necessary to split your bass into layers. Just make sure your elements have presence and are arranged/tuned so that they don't clash. Maybe you s...

Re: loops/ bitches or saints?
the first time I tried beatmatching my friend had these really strange idm/jungle dubs that were all warped and stuff on the decks it is pretty easy to learn how to mix a couple of house tracks together if you have decent equipment ... easy to play the wrong track by accident out of someone else's b...

but it feels kinda generic to me. Good that you notice! Using a polymetric pattern, even an ambient one, will help with forcing you out of the 16/32/64 structure Lots of my tracks are pretty boring and generic and to be honest I like it that way, but I usually have an element subtly working in 5/7/...

Re: Chords & Harmony
Interesting thread, I have been thinking about it a lot. I started using sequencers to make "classically informed" music - actually I didn't value the electronic sounds so much as the ease of composition, it was all for stuff I'd bring to a 10-piece ensemble to play. I was studying under a...

Re: key matches
Mostly popping in to say great release Steevio, your tracks have real personality and it's obvious you aren't afraid to delve into some specific and somewhat restricted material. Any chance I could paypal you for a digital copy? As for mixing music, I never think about the key of my tracks and can't...

Re: Dynaudio BM9S Sub
I sometimes crank my sub up way up and check the bass from upstairs. It's a good way to make sure the low end maintains its definition.
My 8" monitors (HS80m) are pretty much accurate down to 40hz (they go lower than that but very attenuated)

Re: Hardware polysynth up to $ 1000.. which better?
Lately, I've been running the JX3P through Pearl Effects flanger & chorus (lush analog boxes, but I only have them because they were next to nothing) with a digitech delay at the end of the chain. do you like to up a little audio example of just these things doing some stuff? :) ok here is a li...
