By what metrics do you measure a track's quality?
Simply put, what are things that you guys look / listen for in a track? What are things that will make a production stand out from the crowd? The very nature of minimal techno determines that a single misplaced, malformed, or absent element can have a serious impact on the overall quality of a track...

Re: interesting dub chord / stab sounds...
One of my favorite deepchord records. The A1 cut on Deepchord #7 is the dopest dub techno tune ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERDxuJr2X1E AK, you've got to take the &feature=related bit off the end of the YouTube link for it to work right. Phase Ghost, that track is amazing. I can't wait ...

Re: Chords & Harmony
^^^Quite like that. If you like doing chord based harmony, have you ever tried writing music to a set of chords and then removing those chords after? That can be an interesting way to develop a musical idea too. Man, everybody is on that soundcloud, I'm on a PAYG dongle so uploading and downloading...

I have experimented with jamming live before - actually, two years ago, I did an entire track that way. Back when I still used FL, I ...

Re: interesting dub chord / stab sounds...
I was referring to the other thread where we were discussing some different and interesting chord shapes. Some were stating a preference for not wanting to use basic major or minor triads but with Dub techno stuff, well, it's sacrilegious not to use minor chord stabs. Man, I keep meaning to try and...

Thank you so much for posting in this thread and bumping it up to the active topics section. I probably wouldn't have come across it, otherwise.
I just read this whole thread, and when I get home I'm probably going to read it all again, fire up Ableton, and come back with questions.
