I like the idea of a more synth orientated layout. but..... what about 909/808 type layout? so you have a 16 step button matrix at the bottom, with a bunch of assignable knobs along the top.

the laptop on the right is running vdmx its amazing - completely modular, with endless possibilities of the way things are linked together. midi clock/triggers/audio analysis can all be routed to anything sent through behaviors and drive anything... plus you can build your own quartz composer effect...
