Yeah great post Martial Telecom. Sometimes I walk into an old dusty bar/jazz club and see an old black man (not being racist, it's usually an old black man) playing a saxophone or guitar on the side, usually with some appreciation from the patrons. These guys with 40-50 years experience in them have...

Hm, how would the "wall of sound perceived as distant speaker" work across a larger area... isn't one of the problems with surround sound the listener's position? If i were standing 20 feet closer to one side, compared to someone in the middle... wouldn't there be a ton of phasing issues?

Be mindful of your budget. I went the hardware-only route, and several grand later still felt like I needed more effects and cables. Probably spent too much on sound modules, and didn't leave enough room aside for the little things. In the end I went back to software... latency ended up not as big ...

The white noise wave/tension build up sound has been around for ages. It's in Pink Floyd (Wish You Were Here), Jean Michel Jarre (the first Oxygene album), and I'm sure more. If you wanna go on a tangent, classical works use the cymbal build/crash thing too. EDIT: I guess it wasn't used in the same ...

i made that move from software to hardware too, and to be honest it was the *key* point in getting to where i am now. now i kind of think i've pretty much reached what i wanted to reach in terms of flow and sound on the hardware. It's not a matter of getting more out of the machine anymore, but rat...

superb sound, superb liveset, i'd love to be able to reach that, working on it. also i think the move to ableton or the computer will happen pretty soon, in combo with the machines. let me know how that goes. i've been moving the opposite way -- from pure ableton to an ableton+elektrons hybrid. Hav...
