I'm pissed that the industry is fading out firewire with new laptops, leaving only usb, with nothing to take its place. Even the laptops that do have firewire may not work with a lot of interfaces unless they use a Texas Instruments (TI) chipset, and appently thats almost been faded out completely ...

Does anyone know of any custom laptop manufacturers based in europe? I kind of shot myself in the foot a while back by buying an audio interface that requires a PCMCIA or an Express card slot, a feature that along with TI firewire seems to be disappearing from most laptops.
