fck BEATPORT...

i'm with you on this, what's disgusting in Beatport is just about everything:

- their ugly and unpractical interface (flash sucks)
- the pre-listening(how can anybody seriously buy music based upon a clip that souns like it's coming from a transistor radio drowned in the kitchen sink?)
- their prices (plus 1 euro for exclusives + 1euro for Wav's)
- their monopoly seeking policy of signing everybody as exclusive and then addind 1euro on top of the track prices for those labels.
- even their silent partners/owners hawtin and aquaviva piss me off, just for the sake of selling out to the mainstream.

you might wanna try out bleep.com, digital-tunes.net, zero-inch or other independent stores

sure, but i doubt they will: they aren't american, hence they won't choose the money over the quality.

Decent reasons for being upset with Beatport. While beatport 4.0 is adding some nice options that are long overdue, the overall programming is still Flash. I understand the concept of slowly changing a GUI, but they could fair to do the background processing a lot better. Also, don't forget that 60% of that 1 euro goes to the label. Paying 2-3euros for one track is still much better than paying 10 euros for a track that might get played maybe 5 times.

Unreasonable.

1. The people they sign exclusive are people you cannot stand. So this shouldn't even matter.
2. Selling out to the mainstream? Are you 12 years old? It's time to grow up. Even has cheesy as Hawtin is, he'll never truly be mainstream. Even papa sven vath. This is niche music that most people have no clue about. Even if they do reach this supposed mainstream status, who cares? It's their job and it's what they do. I guarantee Richie Hawtin will not knock you for what you do as a job. I work with computers for a corporation. A lot of people like computers as hobbies. Should they call me a sell out for making money off of something I enjoy?

1. sure, it's the label's's own choice whether they want to sign as exclusive. but the way i see it this sort of exclusivity is a discrimination for the shoppers/fans that do like the label but would like to shop it's music elsewhere than beatport. and believe me, there are still a few of us that don't want to spend their money in beatport(i.e. for reasons i explained earlier) , but are obliged to do it in order to get their favourite music.

and as for the 2nd point: no reason for offensive language mate, you don't know the first thing about me(and yes, i'm 37 with a brain of an 12 year old).
sorry, but to me the whole M_nus/The Cube/Native Instruments/Beatport axis of evil is very commercial and mainstream and reveals enough mr. hawtin's mindset...but hey, maybe we just have different standards. everybody's got an opinion and an asshole, right?

haha, right. don't agree with definitions of commercialism but we'll just agree to disagree.

im not a beatport fan, i cant afford to buy everything i want on vinyl though, so i only buy vinyl exclusives and 2nd hand vinyl (lots of it aswel) but what i do download is from junodownload and whatpeopleplay

i dont like the way you cant have multiple tabs open in beatport aswell, sh!t interface.
