That "trick" Richie does is nothing special. All you need to do is have a delay where you increase the feedback and delay time. It's pretty simple, and then you just cut the effect in time and the crowd can go wild.

Btw, Dennis Ferrer calls himself a techno dj, even if he mostly produces deep house, he's anti "sleepy bullsht"

Exactly.

This is the kind of thing you should only do one or twice in a set; now you have more than a handful of trigger-happy morons with laptops doing it every five minutes.

Apparently, somewhere along the line it stopped being cool to just play good music and instead it's better to just make your sh!t sound like a rusty chainsaw for half the night... I must've missed the memo.
