back in time i used sony mdr ex76 for producing. huge bass but really flat highs..

after comparing to my dt770 pro i never use those shitty in-ears anymore!
goodsound for ipod listening but when it comes to producing, you should get a decent pair of cans or monitors

In ear are evil, I use them for the gym only (where cans would fall off and make your ears sweaty!) I find that in ear phones really hurt my ears and hearing if used for longer than about 40 minutes, regardless of sound quality.

My god, that's a bit of an overkill for me.
It is of course very expensive, but you have to remember that these are custom fitted to your ears.

using headphones in the gym is even worse. you don't get the same blood flow to your ears, which makes them more sensitive to loud noise.

I have a pair of sony MDR EX71s that I've had for years, and use very carefully. They're comfortable, and I can't justify replacing them with anything more expensive as they still sound good.
