In the past 4 years we’ve grown a lean, but heavy body of work. And with weight comes gravity. As such, we’ve begun accumulating satellites. Orbiting the mothership, these are the fragments that have come to form what we now call Thema [SPATIAL]. Our venture into the coil of code that is the digital realm has gleaned a startling cache of gems that beg for re-exploration. We have also been receiving quite a lot of outstanding material and us being lovers of vinyl we feel we had to create this extension. Combined with various remix projects, outtakes and B-sides from the parent and digital labels, this new realm will function as a showcase for some of the more esoteric creations from our ever expanding roster of artists. It’s all part of the bigger concept of developing a sound—a movement—an idea.
So Quenum’s floor-crushing “Late Night” remix of Lad’s “Who’s Afraid of Bob?” will be the first on this new venture, with the flip showcasing Ernesto Ferrerya’s sultry and sinister remix of up-and-comer Beaner’s “Already Dead”. Monotron’s original masterful interlude “Material” closes the A side out with a proper introduction to his brand of composition: fine-tuned beats with simple, sinewy melodies.
We really could not think of a better opener for this new venture than this combination of inspired dance floor transmissions. Out of the darkness and onto wax... Many more to follow!
We are really excited about launching this new project and so we would love to hear all feedback good and bad! Say it out loud!
Cheers,
Thema Crew
