featuring:

::: THOMAS FEHLMANN - LIVE :::

(The Orb . Kompakt . Plug Research . Tresor // Berlin)

Thomas Fehlmann is a true legend in the world of electronic
music. Throughout the '90s and beyond, he was an integral
member of ambient group The Orb alongside Dr. Alex
Patterson, while concurrently helping to forge the early
Berlin/Detroit techno alliance and founding the 3MB team
with Moritz Von Oswald, Juan Atkins, and Eddie "Flashin'"
Fowlkes. As a solo artist, Fehlmann is known for his
energetic yet graceful live sets of shuffly, dub-influenced
tech-house, and today finds his home on Cologne's beloved
Kompakt label. We are honored to welcome him to our stage
at last for what's sure to be another unforgettable night.

plus special guest:

::: EFDEMIN :::

(Dial . Liebe*Detail . Curle // Berlin)

Phillip Sollmann, better known as Efdemin, first caught the
international spotlight in 2007 with his self-titled LP of groove-
centric abstract house, which was released on Lawrence's
renowned Dial imprint and named album of the year by
Groove Magazine. Since then he has earned a reputation as
a not-to-be-missed DJ for his detailed sets blending house,
minimal, and techno without ever sacrificing his trademark
deepness and love of experimentation.

::: THOMAS FEHLMANN :::

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Thomas Fehlmann first entered the professional music world after a meeting with Robert Fripp in 1979 at the Art academy in Hamburg. In 1980 he formed the post-pop band Palais Schaumburg with Holger Hiller. Fehlmann started to work on his own in 1985. After moving to Berlin and experimenting with sample technique and tapes, he became a producer and remixer for various artists.

Meeting Alex Paterson in 1989 was a crucial turning point in his career, and he began working with ambient band The Orb. Fehlmann went on to record on 24 or the 25 Orb albums and have a major hand in crafting the groups sound.

Thomas was also involved in forging the Berlin/Detroit techno alliance and assisted in the introduction of techno originators Kevin Saunderson and Underground Resistance to Germany. He also formed the 3MB Team (along with Moritz Von Oswald), producing a series of works for Tresor with Detroit DJs Juan Atkins, Eddie "Flashin'" Fowlks and Blake Baxter.

Now that his work with The Orb has earned him a place in electronic music history, Fehlmann is afforded the artistic license to transcend all previous boundaries. His musicality and experimentalist drive converge with exceptional grace and system-bumpiní appeal. Granular hip-hop grooves and exotic chord structures interface with bold, synthetic finesse, while his housier inner child locks down some precision dance-floor cuts immersed in fluidly manipulated filtration.

As a solo artist, Fehlmann released several Ambient LPs on Apollo/R&S before becoming a regular on Cologne's Kompakt label for his own brand of dub influenced techno and tech house. Fehlmann's 6th solo full length album titled "Gute Luft" will be comes out March 30th on Kompakt.

::: EFDEMIN :::

The last years have been highly productive for Phillip Sollmann a.k.a EFDEMIN and he for sure is one reason that DIAL records arrested massive attention.

After releasing his first (self-titled) full-length album on Dial Records in May 2007 and putting out a buch of remixes for Dessous, Bpitch, Morris Audio, Aus! Or Brut!, Efdemin was constantly behind the decks presenting his idea of music with his ability to blend between house, minimal and techno. Where Efdeminís earlier production work was rather focused on slow, abstract house in the vein of Theo Parrish, he has slowly turned to a more functional approach without losing his special sense for deepness. Efdeminís sound design has become a lot more unobscured and differentiated. And he knows how to adjust old school influences to contemporary listening habits.

His unique DJ style, with its eclectic mix of strict but deeply detailed tracks, provides a continual sense of excitement and creates a kind of haze over the night. Efdeminís debut mix CD came out in 2008, including tracks from respected producers such as Scott Grooves, Brothers' Vibe, Minilogue, Dettmann & Klock, Patrice Scott, Surgeon, Photek and Tobias. Avoiding a selection of easy hits in favor of a well thought out collection of secret weapons, personal favourites and undiscovered beauties, this is a mix that you wonít get tired of hearing. The mix is released on Curle, the label where Efdemin released his biggest track to date, ëAcid Bellsí, that topped last yearís charts. It is the first CD on Curle, a label founded in 2006, with releases from Dub Kult, Mark August, Michal Ho, Anthony Collins and Nico Purman, to name a few, under its belt.

In 2009 he found his own label NaÔf, where he's releasing tracks by himself, Nina Kravitz and Rndm.
