HYP!HYP!HYP! @ PLAN B - FRIDAY 14TH MAY 2010

After our huge party in March with the mighty Claude VonStroke in Room 1 & Untold’s excellent Hemlock Recordings hosting Room 2, Hyp!Hyp!Hyp! returns for another session of forward thinking dancefloor focussed bass music, taking in the cream of the UK scene – from Bristol, to London, to Glasgow.

Continuing our exploration of the London-centric bass climate, and with a rich heritage in much of the capital’s underground music, Geeneus is more than a familiar face to many in the scene. With Rinse FM an undeniable and fundamental force in the development of both artists careers and musical genre’s, plus a history in jungle, garage, grime, dubstep, and now the sounds of UK funky & dubbage, what this man doesn’t know about London music, probably isn’t worth listening to.

Bristol’s Guido is one of the many talents that wouldn’t exist without the styles represented on Rinse. From mid-noughties grime tracks to the current sound pushed through his, Joker’s and Gemmy’s Purple Wow collective, Guido has been making waves with his deep and lushly synthetic productions since his ‘Unleashed’ mixtape back in 2006, and more recently releasing progressive rn’b-meets-orchestral-dubstep on Peverelist’s astounding Punch Drunk imprint.

South East London resident and recently signed Numbers man Deadboy has garnered a great following since his early tracks were picked up by the likes of Kode9, Bok Bok, Jackmaster & Zinc late last year, and with the huge anthem ‘If U Want Me’ just released on Glasgow’s favorite conglomerate, the future looks dazzling for this organic-garage-to-bassline-to-deep house protégé.

Recently-signed funky exponents Deep Teknologi bring through their sleek, minimal tech-house to Plan B’s much-loved system, taking in African rhythms and Berlin-esque wizardry, most notably on their soon come ‘Anthem’ track, which sees the duo mix up heavyweight sub-bass with techno brilliance to devastating effect. With schooling in proto-Grime & garage, and the backing of Hyperdub queen Cooly G, expect the sound of now…

The LuckyMe collective have been responsible for presenting Glasgow with some of the finest music, art & parties, helping the city’s now golden reputation as a creative melting pot, and in The Blessings Dom Sum & Fine Art, you have 2 of the labels managers bringing the house down in an apocalyptic blast of post HudMo swagger. From Prince, to classic garage, to next level dubstep, these guys know how to create an atmosphere.

Finally, Rinse FM resident, Bullet Train head & local boy Marco Del Horno brings his tribal UK funky sound to Brixton. With his productions receiving heavy rotation from the likes of Roska, MA1 & Julio Bashmore and his fledgling Bullet Train imprint going from strength to strength with releases from Last Japan, The Brockout & the man himself, be prepared for some true underground business.
