Scientific side is really complicated and honestly not that helpful. I started out with SoS's Synth Secrets, read/studied it all, and never got anywhere. Honestly DanceMusicProduction's Synthesis DVD helped me out a lot, but before that it was getting familiar with a really easy-to-use synth. There are still sounds that I struggle with these days, but they're usually comb-filtered, Absynth/Reaktor driven, multilayered foundsounds, etc.simonb wrote:There's nothing wrong with pointing someone in the right direction. The basics should be pretty easy. It shouldn't be too hard to synthesize most of the sounds you hear in tracks. Basses, leads, pads, etc.
