anyone bought anything from the states to the uk? am i going to get charged import costs on gear?

yep.

VAT @ about 20% of total price. Plus import duty... not sure about when that one gets charged though.

The person sending it can alter the price that they say the package is worth. Not everyone will do that. Also if they do that the insured value is lower, so you take a risk in case the parcel gets lost.

For second hand goods too? The thing I want is only $70, so its not going to be that high. Thanks

for any goods with value above £20 or so.

70$ isn't gonna be that much. you'll probably get charged more by parcelforce than customs.

from Japan into EU I got customs and tax and whatnot exactly fcking HALF the price of the unit. Stupid sh!t :x
