Yes, because most people making techno use a bass guitar. Today's award for "standard-mnml.nl pointless and unhelpful" reply goes to you.hydrogen wrote:use a bass guitar maybe!?
A bass guitar is far from the best tool for generating sub bass - as you well know - but why waste an opportunity to re-tread that tired and frequently hypocritical old mantra on here about "just making / playing / recording" everything from scratch, even though that's largely irrelevant to how most people are actually making electronic music.
Give it a rest.
and you win the award for stating the obvious... for fck sake... search the forum. Type in Basslines. There are at LEAST 5 extensive posts covering this topic. why keep treading the same water?Dusk wrote:Yes, because most people making techno use a bass guitar. Just made me think out the box a little here. Wonder how interesting a bassline youd get via a guitar midi controller playing a synth bass? Would obviously depend on your playing but maybe theres something a little dif in it. Im not great on guitar but also, how about a martenot type controller for something different? You can get those eowave ribbon controllers with midi and usb output.
Having said that, youd prob do all the above with programming.
Sorry got absolutely nothing to do with the topic.
