Italy"s T-Bet Records returns, and as with the label"s past string of releases, collaboration is a key theme. This time around we have a fresh constellation of players: Acirne, who"s half the duo Diamond Dog (along with her T-Bet partner Signor Andreoni), teams up with Rio Padice, known for his work on Bassculture and Tsuba among others.
Acirne and Rio kick things off with "Moser", assembled from vintage sounds, fresh out of their original VG+ packaging. With its fluid, expanding ambient tones laid upon playful acid bassline, and frenetic jackophile percussion, it"s a balanced ecosystem of soundwaves. "Naked City", which gives the EP its title, is a rumbling, vibrant bouncing creature who"s not afraid to dance around in his birthday suit.
On the flip, Massimo di Lena AKA Massi DL - who"s previously worked with Rio Padice together as Horacio (Cynosure, Raum...Music) presents his new production alias The Random Odyssey to remix "Moser", bringing the original into fast-paced post-dubstep territory. Finally, Acirne and Rio offer some closing thoughts with the vibrant, strutting "Tonight is the Night" which sounds something like a lost instrumental from Madonna or Janet"s early 90s days. So strike a pose and get nasty in the naked city! If you feel so inclined.
