Hey guys.
I was wondering if anyone knows how I can go about replicating this sound. Basically it sounds like you High pass a kick and then play around with a sub underneath it to create a melody for the low end of the track.
Here are a few examples from my favourite Techno producer Roy RosenfelD:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agcDktqUrsk @ 5.46 is easy to hear it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aRxhA1pgKU this one you can hear from the beginning
Lastly
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV1BL9-D_-M @ 1.00
The only way I've been able to recreate this effect recently is through using loops that have been pre constructed. I want to be able to recreate this from scratch.
Also when I've tried doing this from scratch the high passed kick sounds clicky like in those tracks but doesn't sit on top of the sub properly even when I EQ the two to work together.
Any help would be appreciated

im on work but the description sounds like
one kick is used as a bass sound created with an attack envelope to delete the click
this one is playing the bassmelody
a duplicate of the same kick plays a 4/4 rhythm
mayb a little bit highpass is involded
the first kick (bass) is sidechained to the kick
it could also be a duplicate of the kick with some resonator on it

I ahve looked at it in Audacity. It looks like a sine-wave, half a beat long. Or some other waveform filtered down. It is at a higher pitch than the kick. And it has a positive pitch envelope on it, making it rise upwards, which adds to the groove. Very simple affair. It is also pretty loud in the mix, pretty much as loud as the kick itself. There's also a quieter little bass sound. Have a look in a wave-editor.
