Re: moving overseas, transporting vinyl as checked luggage..
Last year I ordered 80 records from this seller:

I cost me $125 and the records arrived within 3 weeks. Maybe you could have a chat with these guys!

the reason i decided to do this in the first place was because i looked at the flimsy ass boxes that i get from stores overseas like clone, juno and decks, and those go through the postal service - most importantly, the usps - and i know they get treated as poorly, if not worse, than luggage. if it can survive that, i can't see why i couldn't survive a simple flight overseas in the baggage hold of a plane, packed up far more carefully.

You will be fine then. Juno's boxes are a bit sketchy, but the packaging by Juno, Deejay.de and Clone is perfectly fine. I guess vinyl can handle a lot more than you guys thinkcloutier wrote:the reason i decided to do this in the first place was because i looked at the flimsy azz boxes that i get from stores overseas like clone, juno and decks, and those go through the postal service - most importantly, the usps - and i know they get treated as poorly, if not worse, than luggage. if it can survive that, i can't see why i couldn't survive a simple flight overseas in the baggage hold of a plane, packed up far more carefully.

for those that are curious...
everything arrived in one piece. marking the boxes as fragile, and making sure they acknowledge that at check-in, definitely went a long way. as did double boxing these things. there's a couple little dents on the corners, to be expected, but for the most part, these things look better than when they go through the mail.
would i do it again? probably not. but did it save me a lot of time and money? most definitely.
