POLE & DEADBEAT (D.P. KRAKAU)
Echocord land with a mouthwatering new project by Scott Monteith & Stefan Betke - dubbed D.P., the duo are of course way familiar to regular readers of these pages as Deadbeat & Pole. Stefan & Scott are two of the pioneers of modern dubwise sounds, and the results on this collaboration are predictably amazing. Deadbeat from montreal/canada has appeared on a huge range of labels and compilations from the canadian label Revolver through to stefan’s own ~Scape imprint. After his debut album for intr_version and a string of 12-inches, the 2002 long-player “Wildlife documentaries” on scape sought to reinvent the aural trademarks of dub within an almost cinematic framework. Pole is probably best known for his minimal dub sounds, founding the highly acclaimed label Scape in 1999 with Barbara Preisinger. Pole 1 through 3 have become righteous classics as they introduced stefan’s near-lengendary broken “waldorf 4-pole” filter. The two extended workouts gracing this twelve rank with the pair’s best work, sparks fly, true dub techno steppers business!
