Clue needed

Post by idealstandard »

Well I've just recorded one set again, using the good old Traktor and so, and the sound came out loud and clear from the speakers. After converting the wave file in mp3 and upload the set on my mp3-player to hear on my way to work I nealy blew my ears out since the bass lines and kicks were way too loud and saturated :(

Any hint how I could "normalize" that?

If you are recording in Traktor make sure you check your levels and try not let them go into the red - might also be wise to make sure they dont do this on your mixer as well.

Use the limiter in Traktor.

Try mixing leaving a fair amount (+/- 3db) of headroom and apply some multiband compression and limiting afterwards. If you don't what it is I strongly advise you read some bit about it. That knowledge will serve you well in many circumstances.

Well thanks everybody! I mixed on Traktor, I've already tryed to use the Limiter, unfortunately I haven't saved the mix so I had to use it on a single mp3 of the set, and I guess I was in the red :(

I have absolutly no clue about using a compression utility, any hint?
