Nice clubs to visit in San Francisco?

Going to San Francisco in August and want to have a few nice nights out with good music.. Anybody know anything that could be recommended?

Will also get a rental car and drive around california (and nevada) for about two weeks - so if you know any nice places in San diego or Los Angeles or wherever.. Let me know
