Umek 'Slap' Bass - how to?

This thread was about bass (-)

To me, his stuff has always been rather simple in nature.
This hasn't changed considerably. As much as i liked
his older stuff i don't think he could have gone churning out Lanicor-styled
loopage. I don't think it would have been healthy for himself/the audience.

Nothing against Umek, he's a very good guy (imho). And his simplicity didn't change much either. But that track linked here, drop it in a club and i'd never say it's Umek unlike with stuff like i.e. Lanicor etc. Those had a signature sound to it. Something remarkable.

Thing is: keep on making whatever generic stuff is upfront at the moment and you can stay in business forever.

Not been into anything Umek has done for a long time, but there were some good bits in the 90's including quite a brutal track off this compilation:
