MK3 is the USB/FW version
i dont think so
I got an mk3 pre - hybrid, hence me asking to clear things up for any potential buyer :) I must say i'm a bit stuck with my macbokk now, as upgrading it would force me to get an adapter, and i don't know how that does affect the preformance. Also maxed out the macbook, so the only next upgrade path left is a new comp :?
Don't know how the very new macbooks compare with the one i have (white, 2.4Ghz Core2Duo with 4Gb of RAM and a 7200 rpm hdd)

been lurking the macrumors.com site about those new ones, still not there though i hope they get in for Q2, and that i can swap my RAM to those as well.
I'm actually trading my MacPro that's been collecting dust for the new Macbooks, will go for a 15" this time.

What soundcard have you got at the moment Patrick?

the newer macbooks don't have firewire400 connections anymore, only fw800 as seem here:
13"

15"

17"

Thus you need an adapter from fw800 to fw400, which of course is an extra 30 bucks or more :?

xx edit: xx
What I don't get is that i'd drop the SD slot any time for a fw400 slot. Or maybe you can actually load samples faster from the SD slot than the hdd ? That would be interesting...

LOL

the ultralite is very worth a shot, especially the built-DSP is of some great help for external gear.
