I'm loving this, keep it up.

Also, you need to get some of these tracks layed down in full mate, you've got some very nice grooves going on.

Thanks for all the kind ocmments people, you're really keeping me motivated, and great tips!

Here is my first try at performing a "small" set with 10 patterns (I have like 150 patterns now!! woot):

http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/firt-test.mp3

That's all machinedrum and the nord, nothing else involved. As I said, I'm going to get a Kaosspad to smooth it out a bit.

I screw up a lot, I guess I'll have to practice on that. Also it sounds "quite" simple from the sounds, not much going on, I dunno if that's cool or if I should maybe add some atmosphere stuff in the background. There is one moment at 11:00 also, where I notice I had forgotten to plug in the MIDI cable to the nord, so it takes some time to get it going. Hopefully this will not happen live :)

Also there is some beatcutting involved, but actually I had just one "slicer" pattern, so it's always the same, I'll make a few more slicer patterns :)

Critical comments welcome!

This is not very similar to the first set I posted, much more funky and wesenesque in its style, not so much a richie hawtin copy.

And here is another practice I did today for my train ride. Recording is sh!t though, it's distorted, the cable craps out at one moment, and at the end the computer went haywire, thus the skips. Sorry... As for the one, feedback would be awesome! :) THis is just 6 patterns or so, and I tried to be a bit more "careless" while playing, so that I can free myself from being overly conscious about what I'm doing and having more fun. It's coming out alright I guess, a few things need sorting out, this definitely has a bit more of a raw vibe than the other one.

Well, I've listened to everything you've posted so far, and you've already gotten much better at not hurrying so much. This new one is taking more time to develop an identity instead of just switching constantly. Very good. Often times it seems that levels are a bit off, but during a live situation this is the norm, not the exception. Your kicks get lost from time to time, but dynamics are important, so I don't think that's always a bad thing (this happened more in the last one you posted than in this one). Just keep having fun and posting. We'll keep listening. :)

Heya peepz,

I documented my approach at em411.com: http://em411.com/show/blog/4597/1/build ... veset.html

Also I've been working on visuals for the set, programming them in java. It looks supersweet when it is synced to the machinedrum. Sorry for the bad video:

different applet tests:

http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/springin/
http://bl0rg.net/~manuel/lines/

very simple stuff, but i like it very much! :)

The first one is very cool. I'm not such of fan of the others though. It's cool that you're working on visuals now. Jack of all trades, I guess.

Yeah, they are all veyr minimal. I worked a tad on them today, have them running full screen synced with the machinedrum, and that already looks much better :) I'll keep you peepz updated. Musicwise, I forced myself to stop changing patterns and stuff, but I'm definitely noticing a lot of new things. I'll try to take some time off end of february / march to get some tracks down.
