ableton 90% and 10% cubase, I miss the workflow and the small details from live everytime I work in cubase. but cubase is great for certain tasks.

but I think if ableton add some needed not fancy basic daw features I will leave cubase completely.

exactly.

trackers are really convenient if you want to make in-organic music. Unless of course they added some natural method of swing in the new trackers... man its been a while. but its pretty interesting the tricks you could do with 4 mono audio channels and a basic sampler.

MPC2500 (JJ0S2XL)
Machinedrum
Future Retro Revolution
Sequencer on DSI Tetra

Live/Cubase as a tape recorder. Want to get more into software arrangement though to actually finish studio quality tracks rather than recorded live-tracks...even if they are pretty detroit ;-)

Currently using Live but considering trying out Reaper, has anyone got any experience with it?

reaper is great, i would say it has the smallest learning curve of any traditional DAW... very nice user interface as well

i use it as my DAW, really like it, has a few nuances, as all DAWs do.

cheap (and free to try)
easy to learn, with quality online user guides and videos
regularly updated at no cost

Ableton for ideas, Cubase for mixing. If i had money for Mac i will definitely switch to Logic. But Cubase is also monster. I dont know why but that makes me happy! :)
