What would be the best closed headphone for production.

DT 770 are too bass heavy, i think the open back nature of the 990's are alot more accurate.

Dont know about the absolute best but my current favourites are the sennheiser hd 555 headphones

I have the DT 990 Pro, they're amazingly good and very accurate but they're open backed so I don't know how the closed version compares.

The headphone jack on some of the better audio interfaces will have enough power to feed high impedance headphones so you mightn't need to get a separate headphone amp.

i'm using a pair of Shure SRH-440's and they are incredible. they are more accurate than their bigger brother SRH-840 which can also be seen using the funky frequency response graph comparisons here...

The highs on those 440's are gonna shred your ears. They are worse than the sony 7506's...

The highs on those 440's are gonna shred your ears. They are worse than the sony 7506's...

i only monitor at high volumes using my KRK's, otherwise i keep it low when using headphones, but even so, i don't get a sense of shredding highs when using them. maybe i need to check my hearing out.... :/
