oh right, parties and drinks are normally free. at their price, records are completely elitist with your logic. What inanimate objects have soul?

I dont understand why anyone not living in the cities to be toured cares about this or any touring concept. All this talk about scene is bullshit because the ones that matter most are the ones where you live. Don't buy the card, don't go to the party, ans support your local stuff if this sht really matters so much.
Well, I will be in Detroit for the first party and I will not be buying a card to go check it out. Or, maybe I will just to see how new and exciting it is. I guess I shouldn't knock it until try it. Parties and drinks are not usually free of course. I was suggesting that it could be an alternate form of creating something new. They could have a free party or something and open the doors to a larger audience instead of making it so it is only accessible by those with cash. Instead it's disguised as some new strategy that is some how radical, which I believe it is not.

I don't know if records are elitist but they certainly are expensive and a waste of petroleum. We don't need them any more, but that is another thread.

Also, I didn't say that inanimate objects do have a soul. The advertisement for the Cube makes it seem like it will be some type of friend and companion. It makes it seem like some new possibilities for connection could happen by interacting with this Cube. I was just pointing out that I don't think the Cube will provide that. So, If I get what the are trying to do it's this. Throw a party. People show up and develop a relationship with a box with lights on it that transfers information to you. Instead of going to a party being with friends and making new friends and transferring information to each other through stories or dancing we now interact with a Cube and upload our demos and download the secret tracks in hopes that we will be discovered or be able to brag and boast that we have this new limited commodity.

I just don't like the sound of that.

well, your right we don't have to participate but if I can come up with the money then I might check it out while I am at DEMF
move like a wild panda.

nothing beats a m_nus thread on a friday morning...

and as a side note that maybe someone can pass on to the M_nus marketing branch - If you want me to buy a cube, I think the Hambone Brothers need to be at the M_nus party in detroit.. just a suggestion.

i honestly dont see all the big fuss behind it. i dont see why ppl are so against what they are doing. you should thank them for taking minimal to another level and making it more popular to the crowd. im not saying "omfgggg!!!111111 richie & m_nus!!!!!1111", cuz quite frankly some of their releases are utter CRAP...

what i AM saying is that good jobb on making minimal a bigger deal then it is... because of of them and all the otehr artists involved in the scene and those ya'll consider more "commercial", miami is finally opening doors to the minimal scene in a more frequent rate... Marco Carola is headlining at a big club out here.. someting you would have not seen before Music Conference in March of 2008.

Point being, I know we all are tryin to be "purists" (ie. vinyl vs CDs, underground vs commercial), but the reality is... Minimal is taking quite hte rise, and this is going tohelp it be pushed further... Richie is like wat Tiesto is to Trance...

YES... the whole advertisement is bloody cheesy, but who the fck cares? as long as the word is going out for the scene of Minimal and Techno, and now its giving me a chance as a DJ to be able to spin locally more often because of the commercialism of Minimal, im completely fine with it...

Selfish? Yes. I need to eat too. Plus I lvoe the music and I would love the fact to go to Minimal parties every weekend and have a shitload of Minimal friends L MAO....

sounds ridiculous but its the truth.
you guys can stay undergorund all your life, but your not going to get anywhere like that... just be a 'purist' to yourself. as long as you remain a 'purist inside... keep spinnin your vinyl and keep playing your rare netlabel stuff and stay simple.. remain minimal about wat you do... but dont hate or look down on the rise of the genre... its only doing it good... not bad... dont be selfish and stop being greedy :\

just my 2 cents

"Richie is like what Tiesto is to Trance..."

I think that is what most people are objecting to, tbh.

You may not be aware of it, but in the UK we watched commercialism kill the hardcore scene. Early nineties breakbeat hardcore was big in the underground, but then a period of ultra cheesy, commercial tracks such as "Charly" by The Prodigy, as well as "Trip to Trumpton" by Urban Hype and "Sesame's Treet" (f*cking AWFUL!!!) put the music in to the Top 40 record charts, made LOADS of money for the record producers, and took all the credibility and respect away from the music and the scene. That was the beginning of the end, when underground producers wanted to be pop stars and fill their pockets with $$$.

At least we can hope that this whole thing appeals to no one and that it won't be capable of producing any fruit. Like little soulless Minus stormtroopers running amok swiping their minimal micro-chip card up their own asses hoping that some cool beats pop out.
