A phaser is best used on sounds that last longer than a kick drum...A phaser is an audio signal processing technique used to filter a signal by creating a series of peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum. The position of the peaks and troughs is typically modulated so that they vary over time, creating a sweeping effect. For this purpose, phasers usually include a low frequency oscillator.

as far as i know (and how i use it) phaser are used for stereo imaging.
unlike chorus, it wont blur the sound, if its a lead than you will keep the sound focused and direct (depends on the amount), but unlike chorus it can change the timbre of the sound.
imo drums are best as mono sound spread over the stereo field, that is why chorus and phaser dont sound good on drums (to me).
Flangers are totally different. they use very short delay which causes the flanging sound. but they dont cause a phase 'problem' that widen the sound, so drums still sounds good with a flanger.
Stomper.

that's plausible..Stomper wrote:as far as i know (and how i use it) phaser are used for stereo imaging.
