That looks nice BLM.. looks a good price! i normally get my bits for builds from overclockers.co.uk, Amazon is cheaper on this one! lol!
do u need/want HDMI (you'd need it u want to deal with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray)
you can get DVI to HDMI cables for connecting.. !
if you dont then you could get a non HDMI compliant monitor and is a lil bit cheaper ? ! IE this one 4 instance or similar!

Re: New desktop PC
Is this a new line of processor? The last time I had anything to do with PC's it was all quadcores which were the rage. So comparing say this processor and the recent quads, what's the difference?clubfoot wrote:

They are also used in the newer Macs now (finally).
Thanks for the comments guys...
@squonqdm - great suggestions on the cooling/quietness issue
@patrick bateman - good idea about the solidstate system drive
However, I'm now looking at this http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho ... 62190.html with a view to modifying and upgrading to those quieter and even-faster modifications later. It'll cost me about 60% of the original spec I posted - and I can think about quietness later. That'll leave me some change for a Samsung monitor too.
Please let me know if anyone thinks the hp is a pile of junk
