what's better for percussion , semi-weighted keyb or pads ?

pads for drums.
semi-weighted keys are so much nicer than the cheap keyboard controllers.

I do pretty well on my K5000S' keybed, but I do prefer pads.

I could never get down with the pads really. I've used an MPC and currently own an akai midi controller with pads. The keys are pretty cool, but overall I'd suggest something you can play with drum sticks. I have a digital drum set, but one drum should be enough to get down.
