Thank you! I was wracking my brain when I saw the post, as I remember reading about this sound, and that it came from a line of ROMplers very popular in the 90s - I was thinking initially the Roland JV series, but IIRC it was definitely the Proteus or Morpheus.

Dang! Forgot about the Emu stuff, a mate of mine when I was at Uni had the Morpheus (along with a Triton and Moss board) and used to write some quality DnB. He'd do a lot of the chords on the Emu too.
