Nah honestly, mixing with vinyl is an art, seriously, i cant stress that enough, it requires a much more sensitive approach.... anyone can mix cds.....

Think of the volume on a digital device, someone has already programmed the volume levels in, and you select which volume 'preset' you want, (i.e 1, 2, 3 etc..), and so it is the same with the pitch slider on cdj's (0.02, 0.04 etc...)

Vinyl hasnt got those 'presets', and anolouge in general doesnt have those incremental restrictions... with vinyl its all about 'ear / hand' co-ordination, which is a skill way beyond anyhting it takes to play well on cd.....

Obvioulsy a club context is a bit different, the sounds affected so much before it reaches the listener it is hard to tell (except in bottom heavy tracks, then theresno contest) CD bass sounds too 'dry'...

Youll find alot of people who started out on vinyl and have spent hours and hours practicing with the format will tell you the same...

This is all my opinion of course..

Could someone please return to the topic? We had this vinyl vs. digital DJing discussions thousands of times, so please pick one of those threads and leave this one for those who want to know about SENDING DEMOS. Thanks.

A first in the label's demo submission history: i received a "demo" link to a mp3 shop of an artist. Although we can listen to the tracks on the player, the guy insist that I should pay for the tracks to consider them. You read correctly, I need to pay to get this demo.

This is the most confusing submission ever, even after i tried to explain him our situation and that sending links to the tracks for downloading would really make things easier. He still insists that if i'll play tracks, i should pay.

Thank god i dont pay for all demos I get... :?

What do you guys think???
