[Quagmire003] Artist Ensemble - Prologue EP

Post by ion ludwig »

Quagmire

Quagmire's third “Artist Ensemble” EP introduces the first four new artists to the labels roster.
This quartet hails from Dutch soil, William Kouam Djoko residenting in Amsterdam as Mical Rhebess, Pevanu and Tim Woestenenk living in the so called ‘Backcorner’ of East Holland, near the German border.
Except for W.K. Djoko who is part of Jason & the Argonauts and released a remix for Kabale und Liebe on Meerestief before, these young, bright and talented producers did not released solo on vinyl before. Quagmire is proud to bring their absolute releasing debuts for these close friends of the label.

William Kouam Djoko’s Serialism Repetition fills the complete logo side. This loopy bomb sucks you in a whirlpool of wet percussions and snareriffs. Transitions are hardly recognizable and changing elements seem to continue. Dynamic and delicate techhouse as never seen before on Quagmire.

Tim Woestenenk’s Sunset Love on the info side sets the elegant mood for this ep. Microhouse in its purest form, stripped down to the most functional sounds. A big stab and a broken oriental stringinstrument give this track a incredible sense. Timeless clubmusic.

Mical Rhebess & Pevanu’s Modus Inpiriandos are providing the inside cut on this record with high listening potential. Minimal yet groovy rythmstructure carries deep floating pads while an electric piano theme gives the track loungy flair. Laidback melodies and subtle beats.

A: William Kouam Djoko - Serialism Repetition - 10.24
B: Tim Woestenenk - Sunset Love - 7.29
B: Mical Rhebess & Pevanu - Modus Inpiriandos - 6.54

The 3 tracks seem to sound very good.

I loved the previous releases. I'll buy this one.

wow i like that.....

mini house with some groooooove

quag002 was pretty disapointing for me personally, cus it sounded so

"tinny" - maybe a mastering issue.....but the bp files really sound kinda crappy...

Question: does the vinyl sound different?? would be a reason for me to buy it - let me know. cheers!
