To start 2008, Thema is excited to launch our digital series with new comer Yura Linber. A gem in the rough, Linber has a richer musical past than many DJ/producers twice his age. Barely 23 years old, from Syktyvkar, Russia. Linber’s musical influences stem from electronica to punk and black metal (that’s right!). Since the start Linber has run the gamut of electronic/dance music genres and has crafted a sound that is informed by most anything rhythmic and audible. He describes his taste as “deep, techy and minimal”, but as closer listening reveals, there’s much more to the picture than these two handy euphemisms. Thema is proud to be the first label to showcase his work and look forward to supporting undiscovered talent.

Track Descriptions:
1. Roomette -
The only percussion on this introductory track is a resonating tick, bouncing over swelling chords. Sound objects drop in and out of perception as this doppler composition glides along carrying all of the elements of Libner’s sound, waiting to be assembled.
2. Sueno Eterno - A gorgeously crafted track that displays more of his four-to-the-floor-sound collage Funk. The warm deep organ makes a lovely counter to the driving rhythm and groaning, percussions. Its a Bomb ready to go off!
3. Mineralwasser - ‘Mineralwasser’ builds upon its’ own quirks into a dense, textured track that gives the listener something new with each listen. Bizarre minimal funk wrung-out and stretched across a crisp minimal house beat.
4. Za Sekundu Do - A deep, soulful capper to end the night. The warm organ returns and wavers among a soft crescendo; understated elements ride along with other beautiful bits, while the whole piece is supported by a simple melody and a perfectly placed, bassline that will work in many occasions.

You'll be happily surprised on how well these work on the floor, they all pack a nice punch and are great for those long mixes. We've been getting full support from a nice range of DJ's and producers. All feedback is welcome, we hope you enjoy and thank you for all the support ;)

Cheers,
Thema Crew
