i bought the audio kontrol 1 to use with my laptop and to be honest i'm not that impressed.
i bought it because there was alot of positive stuff on the ableton forum and it seemed the perfect choice as a simple sound card.
but it glitches ! very randomly, maybe every 20 minutes i get a random crackle.
i've set it all up properly, (buffers etc) but my laptop has an integral graphics card which isnt ideal.
also it prevents me from shutting down my laptop unless i pull out the USB ( a problem that NI are aware of, so why hasnt it been fixed ?)
it also tends to crackle really badly on boot up and down.
the sound quality is not a patch on my main PC soundcard - Emu 1820m, theres absolutely no comparison.
but i suppose it does the job, and its inexpensive, but as a main soundcard - noway.
hello. sorry if I sneak into this conversation but some questions about these very two cards. would you recommend the audio 8 to use with ableton in a live situation? I ask this because it's usb powered but everyone seems to recommend firewire. I have the latest macbookpro so maybe a firewire would work best (studio production is scheduled for later times).
and: are those two cards both usable in a live situation?
thanks
they dont look that bad tho..
do you need one of the both for using traktor scratch or can you plug an other one to traktor scratch too?
cheers
i have the audio 8, got it with traktor scratch , im happy with it, use it for production purposes too (ableton). sounds great.
yes you need it for traktor scratch.
I've got the Audio Kontrol 1 with my iMac, had it running on my iBook before, and it's always been pretty solid for me, mainly use it for Traktor 3 and Logic.
