Netlabels and law: how does it work?

Dear mnml friends,

I'm still seriously thinking of starting a netlabel. My biggest problem is that I do not know how to copyright my music!!

A license from Buma/Stemra costs a whole lot of money, so how do other netlabels protect their music?

And what else should I think of?
