[AUTIST. 101] - Sami Wentz - "Since 1987"

Post by M_FERRI [KASSETTE/AUTIST] »

for me, the summer has started since i heard this wonderful E.P.
from Sami Wentz for the first time !!

It features four wonderful groovy tracks to make your summer.
I played myself "Mr.Chax" several times in the club and whenever
this fantastic flute break comes in, people go mad and start to scream!

Check out this song in your club and you will have a great party !!

here is the promised INTERVIEW WITH SAMI WENTZ

Last friday we have released the wonderful EP from french artist Sami Wentz.
This release is full of great summer vibes. For me personally this is THE sound track for this year´s summer 2009.

So i would like to introduce the man behind this lovely E.P.

First of all Sami, Congratulations! In terms of production
quality, emotionality and groove I consider this release as your best release so
far. Can you tell a little bit about your production techniques ? What
kind of equipment did you use on "since 1987"

For this release, and all my other release in general since i started producing my
own music, i only use my old computer(i have it since 5 years heheh),fruity
loops ,and my mouse,i don't have any equipment like synth or sound card,or
anything else, for me,the music doesn't come from the best equipement, but from
the head.

Which tools did you use most to produce these songs?

I work a lot with the Native Instrument plugin, especially the minimoog and some
sample.

What do you like in particular about this software ?

For me the minimoog is http://htxt.it/evER

What do you like in particular about this software ?

For me the minimoog is the best for producing basslines, it has a lot of presets for all kinds of tracks i produce. In my tracks the bassline is the most important thing.

I got very good reactions on the dancefloor. Whenever I played Mr.Chax people really went off and when this wonderful break with the flute comes in. People always have a smile on their face. Did you get similar feedback?

Yes i had a lot of feedback from all minimal lovers and from some great artist of the moment who played this track,i'm very glad of that, when i produced it,i was not sure about the reaction of the people later, but now i can tell i'm very proud of my stuff.

What does the title of the EP refer too?

It is quite simple - this title is my birth date. for this ep,i was inspired about all the things that happened to me since my birth, good and bad ...

So all together how many years do you make music now?

Humm...I can say i'm still in training course (lol), Since August 2008 I make music every day and so i learn more and more about the production techniques of the great producers. this is my basic motivation.

What is your daily life like, apart from making music ?

I work as commercial counselor, and i am in charge of my own schedule so it gives me time too make music.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years and will music production be still part of your life?

For the moment,i dont feel like to stop producing my own music,i am just in the beginnings.it is wonderful to see that my tracks are played by all great dj's who i admired the last years. for me thats the best that could ever happen to me ,and i hope it will go on and on.

What club would you like to play one day?

My dream is is first to play at the WMC in Miami or in Ibiza one day, and then i would be very glad to play in the biggest clubs in Berlin like Berghain or Panorama Bar...

Do you play digital or vinyl?

I learned to mix with vinyl and then bought my own turntable. then i had a period where i mixed with the digital, now I'm back on vinyl, because for me there is no better thing than the hit vinyl...

Sami thanks a lot! All the best for your career and all the best for the success of your current Autist release!

Thanks to you Ferri and i would like to say a BIG thanks to all people who have been supporting me since the very beginning…

today we have initiated our free DJ tool series. these dj tool snippets are cut from our commercial releases and are FREE.

you can use them with your Native Instruments Traktor, Serato Scratch, Ableton Live, or whatever DJing application you would like to use.

if you are a vinyl dj, you can load these dj tools into you Redsound Soundbyte Pro sampler, and use them easily as well!

if you are an experienced dj tools user you will probably know that it s better to have no beats in your dj tools (most of the time) in order to have most flexibility. so you wont be surprised about the loop snippets i have choosen for this release :)

simply load these snippets in your prefered DJing application, press the loop button, and mix them in with your songs.

as AUTIST will release free DJ tools from every release, your library could grow soon.

i hope you like this idea
