Magicbag is a dynamic new project from the people behind Wax:On events, introducing exciting new talent & wetting the tastebuds with a broad spectrum of electronic music.
Already played on BBC Radio 1 In New DJs We Trust show, PEOPLE GET REAL’s ‘Robin Hood’ is a deep throated dancefloor destroyer. Complete with Jamie Jones remix (ahead of his debut artist album dropping this summer on Crosstown Rebels), the Welsh techno new techno star charges some groove and solid beats into his reedit of this charming creation.
The sound of Achtung Achtzig can only be described as vintage electronic disco. ‘Lost In Translation’ is a plethora of silky soundwaves and magnetic energy, its flamboyant bass and synths setting out to destroy disco lands worldwide. This dynamic pair of new wave bohemians were born straight from the stars, drawing new material from their favourite influences from the past. "The outcome of this project aims to be a journey through our influences that brought us to where we are today, drawing heavily from disco, new wave and electro pop from the late70's/80's and also visual and cultural influences from the time."
Youandewan AKA Ewan Smith was born on the skirts of Granite City in Scotland and is a favourite attraction at Wax:on for his dextrous blend of club music. ‘Thumbsucker’ grinds teeth with its simple and groove-filled bass and beats, leaving a flood of disorder in its path.
Wax:on has been pioneering the best events in northern England this decade. Attracting a loyal and yearning crowd, its musical path provides a fresh landscape and cultivates some of the best talent around. Magicbag is their new platform, founded by Dan Blackledge, Death on The Balcony and Simon Lister (People Get Real). Since 2002 People Get Real have been bringing their brand of dance-floor terrorism from their native Newcastle to parties across the world. Never allowing themselves to be pinned down to a particular sound is seen as their greatest strength. Lucky enough to call the likes of Magda, Heidi, Matthew Dear, Tobi Neumann, Ryan Elliott and Tiga their fans, their philosophy is that a club night or mix shouldn't be at the same level or tempo all the way through. This gives them the uncanny ability to bring their mixture of house, techno and disco to any floor and rock it.
Magicbag is about to embark on a journey through the musical senses, shaking up the worlds of techno, house, electronica and disco to embody a fresh and fertile new sound.
