not really.
it will be a complement. a faster way of communicate between eachother as members. a new way of getting ideas/interesting stuff into topics.

and so on, so on. its just another way of communication. forums are more for calm discussions, realtime chatting more for talking about everyday life imo..

I agree there are ups and downs about real time chat...yet would be nice to say whats up in real time to the great members on this site ;)
