Elements in a track

Obviously this is a completely open question and could differ drastically as there are no rules but we all have our routines...

How many elements (tracks) do you usually find yourself using in your songs?

depends what style i'm doing but it's normally between 10 and 20. if i'm doing chopped up microhouse i might end up with more.

I try and do everything in about 8 tracks, but one or two of those will be drum racks with 5-10 instruments, and sometimes i'll group a couple of other sounds to one channel. So yeah, i guess about 20.

As I got better, I started using more and more channels, as I have progressed more, I keep it to 15-20 an 4 send

Between 10 and 30 channels ; 4 Send.

I'd say fifteen is about average for me, plus several return tracks, though sometimes I've gone as low as three to four on a very light ambient track.

I recently made a thunderstorm for my girlfriend to sleep to that was merely two: Rain (a park fountain I ran through Live's Grain Delay and Reverb; sounds like rain on leaves vs fountain on concrete) and thunder
