some good tips, some not so good imo but anyway
ive read about how some of you guys "record to tape"
and in my mind i always assumed this meant like a reel to reel
but this article talks about actually just recording to cassette tape.
is this something some of you guys actually DO??

yeah totally. the article is basically a how-to for lo-fi sound specifically so that makes sense.
i could see that maybe being useful for certain tracks or certain situations.

i tried this and wasn't happy with the results... maybe bad vcrprussell wrote:if you are set on recording to tape but want to do it on a budget, use a good quality Hi-Fi/4-head VCR instead of cassette...you'll get much better results.

A friend of mine still has an 8-track recorder which he uses now and then to record tracks to, then re-record it with Logic. Gives it a nice analog 'warmth' strangely enough.
