Allen&Heath ZED-14

Post by note »

Hi,

it seems that the Allen&Heath ZED-14 has some kind of built in audio interface? can someone confirm this?

If so, there's no need for another audio interface besides the ZED-14?

best,

you can record the mix bus into a DAW and also use it as an effects send and return so you can use plugin effects. it depends on your workflow really. i would want something with more inputs/outputs for recording multiple tracks at once. if you do a lot of stuff with audio and virtual instruments in the computer and want to mix with the Zed you will need another interface. if you do the zed r16 is what your looking for. it's also a lot more expensive. i was thinking about getting one but it's not compatible with my DAW of choice which for me is more important than any mixer.

I understand, thanks for the answer tone-def!

So to make things clear - if i want a mixing console with a built-in audio interface, ZED R16 is the console of choise?

I see - yes the R-16 console is quite expensive.

Similar question: if i would like to connect my audio interface to a mixer (let's say ZED-14) what inputs/outputs do i need in my interface to connect it to my mixing console?

to get the best out of the Zed 14 you would need an interface with 16 inputs and 14 outputs.

That sounds quite expensive  any suggestions on any USB-interfaces with that amount of ins/outs?
