Apple Loops vs REX ?

Post by Opuswerk »

I've aquired a sample cd offering the samples both in apple loops and rex format, however i'm not too sure which one are best to use within ableton.
Is there a difference in sound quality between the two? a difference in the slicing?
Curious to know what people know about that...

rex format allows (due to the slices) better time stretching
if you have also longer sounds, and don't need timestretch i would suggest to use the aiff format

i prefer rex as it's easier to change velocity and the groove of the slices. apple loops just time stretch to fit the song. rex is much more flexible and you can be far more creative straight away.
