To follow up our TRUS'ME show, we are taking advantage of the upcoming long weekend for a special night of house, disco, funk, soul, boogie.. with EDDIE C !!
Born in Port Hope Ontario, EDDIE C is no stranger to small towns but you'll never hear it in his productions. In his youth (80s) he was already collecting records, doing edits, making tapes. He attended University for the last part of the '90s in Kitchener-Waterloo and had a radio show there where he met some incredible DJ's. Mike Shannon ran a club night there where Eddie played often. Fast forward to today. Happily married and living in Banff, Eddie spends half his time skiing, and the other DJing and making music.
His popularity in the world of underground dance music has sky rocketed in the past year or so, with releases on 7 inches of love (the mole's label), Jiscomusic (uk), Karat (fr), and others. As a DJ he plays only vinyl, and plays all kinds of obscure sexy music that you can't help but want to move to. So we're very lucky to have booked him right before he departs on his first European tour because we likely won't see him again for a while
To compliment Eddie's sounds, Montreal native and Mutek veteran LUCAS GRANITO, aka DAFLUKE, one of the brains behind last summers ROOFTOP SPECIAL parties, will be playing a special blend of house, boogie, and booty.
We've also booked JESSE PROUDFOOT and CHRIS ALLEN! Both excellent and eclectic music selectors - they will start the night off on the right pied with some disco, boogie and soul.
$12 dollars at the door, or $8 if you can make it before 11. First record goes down at 8pm sharp.
917 main - used to be called the Cobalt - is amazing. The venue itself looks and feels great after all the work Ezra and Patryk put into renovating the place. The bar is made from wood beams that were salvaged from the old Richards on Richards and the draft beer is excellent and cheap.
