On this awaited night, they’ve put together an exceptional lineup that will be remembered depending on your state. Migrashun hopes that all who have supported us throughout this year and people new to their project will be there to party!

Within the last two years, Luke’s music has been released, played and charted by many international artists. || Sarah Goldfarb ||

Image

The female pseudonym of Sarah Goldfarb hides a male artist that lives in Marseille, France and who is definitively part of these new electronic emergent signatures.

Since 1994 Sarah Goldfarb has organized a lot of parties with local techno collectives on a register inspired from north american pioneers such as Richie Hawtin, Jeffs Mills, Carl Craig and their direct heirs like Baby Ford, Ricardo Villalobos, Robag Wruhme, Luciano or Someone Else. The refined structures and the contained tempo of this minimal scene was just fascinating this DJ and LIVE artist, even before representative and now famous labels such as Treibstoff, Kompakt or Traum/Trapez became widely known and played in all (good) european dance-floors. In 2001, Jean Vince, now recognized as one of the best local DJs, bought his first machines. If his DJ sets oscillates between minimal house and techno, his productions are a subtle mix between micro house and hypnotic techno.

For his production Jean Vince choose the pseudonym of Sarah Goldfarb, its the name of the amphetamhined grandmother in Darren Aranofskys Requiem 'For A Dream', a movie that was an aesthetic shock to this cinema lover. One should one that Sarah Goldfarb completed studies in this field before investing himself completely into electronic music.

This female pseudonym brought him good luck. In 2003, becoming more and more famous, his productions were pressed by Colognes well known label Trapez, but were just the beginning : Sarah Goldfarb started working on regular basis with many other pretty well known labels all over Europe, such as Handeld or Treibstoff. And its with the latter, and especially with its owner Marcel Janovsky that a strong and friendly complicity was born, so he choosed Treibstoff as his homebase label.

However, being a freedom lover, in 2005 Jean Vince also helped create a new net label in his city, Indigomagenta.com, releasing free tracks and taking inspiration from the creative common licencenses philosophy. The label Roman Photo was founded a few months later with some of his friends, becoming acquainted with followed by his meeting with the american great and emergent artist Someone Else who confirmed him the first smashing Roman Photo release, definitely a very good and promising start.

|| Luke Hess ||

Born in 1980 and raised in the Detroit area, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. In 2003 he recorded his first promotional mix CD release for UR/Submerge. Since then, his faith based music production has landed him a seat with FXHE and Beretta Music in Detroit. His debut album was released in early May 2009 by Denmark based label Echocord and is still in high demand. His solo work on FXHE includes Dubout EP #1 which was charted in 2007 on Groove magazines top 50 releases of the year. His music has been charted and played by the world’s top techno DJ’s including Marcel Dettmann, Rolando, Falko Brockseiper, MIA, Lawrence, and Luciano. His work on Beretta Grey was also featured in a Mix on the Renaissance label mixed by Steve Lawler. With 8 years of DJ experience, he is regarded as a perfectionist in his Live sets and behind the decks layering his tracks in a very detailed and hypnotic manner. In May 2010 Luke is launching his own vinyl label out of Detroit called DeepLabs to focus on his own style of Detroit Techno. Luke has played at notable venues and events such as Culture Box (Copenhagen), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Unit (Tokyo), Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Detroit), Fabric (London), The End Up (San Francisco), Golden Pudel (Hamburg), Sirup (Zagreb), and The Bunker (NYC). Luke’s continued hard work behind the decks and in the studio combined with his unyielding interest in technology and sound will no doubt stimulate the boundaries of electronic music.

Mathias Matthew has grown over the years to become one of the most technically skilled performers of this generation. Throughout the years he has gained experience working in production, promotion and performance. Getting his start on the flyer team of Necto in Ann Arbor in 2002, Michigan paved the way for many things to come.

Since then, we have seen Mathias perform at numerous venues in Detroit including: Bleu Room, The Works, Finite Gallery, DEMF 2004, State Theatre, Centre Street, and Oslo just to name a few. In addition to performing, Mathias also worked on numerous production projects including the likes of Departure (Works Monthly) and Brio. Working with Derek Fox, Brio produced the Drip events which brought a new unique spin to Detroit’s electronic community. Brio used blank canvas venues to emphasize the performers while complimenting the venue with minimal eccentric visuals.

After relocating to Chicago in the fall of 2008, Mathias has played at venues such as Vision, Tini Martini, Victor Hotel, Wax, Smart Bar and other hotspots. He has shared the decks with artists such as James Holden, Jake Fairley, Frankie Bones, John Digweed, DJ Three, Benny Benassi, John Acquaviva, Ryan Elliot, Thomas Penton, Kate Simko, Tmo Maas, Saeed and Palash and Eric Cloutier, just to name a few. In 2008 and 2009 he worked as the Marketing Director of Volatl tm which has helped him gain knowledge and experience of the industry in all its facets. In addition, his participation in Just Quality Music’s “Weekly Record Check” has been an experience in its own right.

Moving into 2009 we now see Mathias moving forward with his project labeled “Migrashun”. Migrashun was established in 2009 as a top tier promotion agency in the United States for Tech-House, Deep House, Techno, and Minimal forms of EDM. Its aim is to provide audiences throughout the world with superior musical entertainment in an unquestionable atmosphere of professionalism and consumer satisfaction.

Ariel Frank is an artist on the Chicago based Label and Promotion Agency, Migrashun (Migrashun.com). The particular sounds in his sets transcend from the 14 years he spent between southern France, Rome, and Tel-Aviv. Currently based in Chicago, Ariel mixes a wide array of genres from Deep-House, to Techno, and Minimal with a touch of Funk. His DJ sets are driving and keep the listener in the moment while creating a raw and sunny atmosphere.

His early inspirations revolved around French House such as Cerrone, Daft Punk, Cassius, and Modjo.
After moving to Chicago, Ariel partnered with his good friend Mathias Matthew on kick-starting the Chicago based Collective and Booking Agency, Migrashun (Migrashun.com). His current influences are broad and include artists such as Masomenos, DJ Koze, Kabuto & Koji, Rozzo, Ricardo Villalobos and more.

While Ariel has gained visibility through his soul filled podcasts, he's also performed with international talent such as Lucy, Jin Choi, Fairmont, and Mathew Leutwyler. In December of '09, he was the Featured Artist on Proton Radio. Ari has also recently joined forces with his musical mentor, Derek Fox (Beretta Records), to create an impressive live duo known as "Tripuri People". RECOMMENDED

Local promoter Migrashun is turning “one year young.” To commemorate the milestone, the crew is throwing a bash featuring Triebstoff artist Sarah Goldrarb (aka Jean-Vincent Luccini). The French producer/DJ will be making his Chicago debut with a DJ set sure to impress. Expect plenty of thumping tech-house and techno mixed seamlessly at a tempo sure to get your hips shaking. Also performing at the crew’s anniversary event is Luke Hess, a contemplative Detroit producer and DJ with a penchant for lush dub techno. Migrashun brought Hess to Chicago when he performed with Brian Kage under their Reference moniker. One of the only producers to release on Omar-S’s FXHE label, Hess is a rising artist on the international scene, and his acclaimed live set is one not-to-be missed. Joining Sarah Goldfarb and Luke Hess is Migrashun founder Mathias Matthew and Migrashun resident Ariel Frank. The event will take place in the intimate Penthouse of Vision Nightlcub. The Migrashun crew plans to make this a semi-private event and no one without a wristband will be able to enter the Penthouse. To receive this wristband, make sure to use the password “I Like Stuff” at the door. (Elly Rifkin)
