I recently bought a gamers mouse to use with my DAW.
I had some doubt at first, but now i just love it and thought i share the idea.
The one i bought has 7 buttons and comes with a software for customizing its settings. so you can make each button do whatever keyboard shortcut you like.
so i got the regular click/menu buttons. selector, mute/unmute, duplicate and delete all in the mouse.
it does take some time getting use to it, but i like this new workflow.
Stomper.
Gamers Mouse
I got a Razer Orochi.
Its 4000 dpi when connected with USB. but i got it because it was the only wireless one they had.
When wireless its less sensitive, 2000 dpi i think. but i dont mind, only cared about more buttons and that they can be customized.
not sure about other models, but this one is not limited to one key.
if i have a shortcut to save a project with a new name, lets say ctrl+alt+s, i can record that combo and attach it to one mouse button.

I'm not an apple hater, they make great stuff and I do respect that much! but all apple mice are really a bad design (for power user). everyone who use them doesn't not have a clou how much more advanced logitech/MS etc. mice are. the multi touch thing is a nice idea, but it's more about an 'entertaining' factor then a real advantage.
