movement/accents on percussion

Post by breaktwister »

Feeling a bit frustrated with my drums atm, they sound lifeless and dated.

I program everything in Ableton using single drum hits or chopped up loops.

I'm not a total noob, I know about panning, velocity, using different lengths of hits, groove etc but I'm stuck trying to get to the next level.

I'm wondering if I need a drum sampler (Battery) or some VST drum module?

Try turning off your grid!
Also - what samples are you using?

Yeah good samples are a must. I use different packs for different things as well. Someone put up some Mbase samples which I use all the time now.

Of course your drums suck, you are programming them in Ableton.

Quit being a peckerhead, buy a drum machine already. Everybody knows you can make mnml in 2010 without real analogue hardware!

it's not how you do it, it's the way that you do it
ableton has nothing to do with it..

I mostly work with samples from my own drum machines, but I'll use a sample pack sound if it's better than my version. 8)

Are you only using sounds that come with Ableton, or do you have other samples?
