Any tips to get a really distorted sound?

i mean a really heavy distorted sound just like it can be found
on some older downwards records or the ancient method releases?


thx in advance for any feedback

I'm not familiar with the recordings you mention, you got some youtube links? I use a metal zone guitar pedal for distorting synths. It's got a parametric EQ which helps to dial in a sound. I haven't heard any software distortions that I like.

Yeah I also like distortion pedals.

Some faves are the Boss ds-1, od-1, the EH 2ube, and the TS303 Acid Screamer.

There are tons of great ones out there that will give you that industrial crunch thats on those Downwards and Ancient Methods records.

Metal Zone is really good, lack of low end but very hard distortion :)

thx for the tip with "metal zone" - think this one fits for my purposes, i'll definitly try this one out...

thats sounds like a over drive plug in. The a bit reductions
maybe try bouncing the trak out at 8bit or a slow sample rate and the speed it back up, you can get some great results there
...but that would involve using this typewriter to make a sound. *shudder*

don't buy this one. it has a severely muddy mid range, and complete lack of clarity in the high end. it robs the input of articulation. avoid this pedal like the plague.
