Yeah I also like distortion pedals.
Some faves are the Boss ds-1, od-1, the EH 2ube, and the TS303 Acid Screamer.
There are tons of great ones out there that will give you that industrial crunch thats on those Downwards and Ancient Methods records.

maybe try bouncing the trak out at 8bit or a slow sample rate and the speed it back up, you can get some great results there
